RSS is a Web feed format used to publish frequently updated web site content. An RSS feed displays a summary of content from a web site or the full text. RSS feeds make it possible for people to keep up with new items on a web site without having to search each page manually for new content. RSS feeds can be read using software called an RSS reader or it can be read straight from a browser with a built-in RSS reader like Internet Explorer 7. The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed's link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user's subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds.
