May 2008: EPICS Version 8.9 released with numerous enhancements.

See the May newsletter for details.

The EPICS Enterprise Edition is the version used by most of our customers. It includes 16 concurrent user licenses, but a virtually unlimited number of licenses can be easily added (see pricing on next page.) Several EPICS customers are running systems on 100+ station networks with 50+ concurrent user licenses.

Any of the optional modules can be added to the Enterprise Edition.

The EPICS Basic Edition is designed for the smaller extrusion plant needing a more economical solution. It includes six concurrent user licenses. This would take care of, for example, five workstations constantly connected to EPICS, as well as one license for others to share (management, dial-in, etc.) The five constantly connected workstations might be:

. Office (Order Entry, Invoicing, reports, etc.)
. Office (Sales, Customer Service)
. Production Control (Scheduling, Printing workorders, Posting production)
. Packing (Printing packing tickets)
. Shipping (Loading trucks, printing manifests, etc)

The optional Enhanced Shipping and Enhanced Finishing Modules are not available with the Basic Edition.

The Basic version includes a fixed component added to the annual Software Service Policy. This allows us to provide the same level of support as the Enterprise version, as well as the same updates and enhancements.

Additional user licenses beyond the six included can be added to the Basic edition at any time. However, if you think you will need more than 12 licenses, the Enterprise edition is more economical. The Basic edition can be upgraded to the Enterprise edition at any time.

The EPICS Lite edition is designed for the one-press plant with a small office staff. Since user licenses are limited, it may not be feasible to utilize all of the available EPICS features. For example, you may not wish to print individual packing tickets, but to print one ticket for each item. The optional Enhanced Shipping Module and the optional Enhanced Finishing Module are not available with the Lite Edition.

EPICS Lite has a low initial price, and a reasonable annual charge. The initial price includes the same training and assistance as the two larger versions, except that the on-site visit is replaced by web-based training and assistance. The Lite version includes a fixed component added to the annual Software Service Policy. This allows us to provide the same level of support as the two larger versions, as well as the same updates and enhancements.

Additional user licenses beyond the one included can be added to the Lite edition at any time. However, if you think you will need more than 3 licenses, the Basic edition is more economical. The Lite edition can be upgraded to the Basic edition at any time.
